eco•mental is a woman-owned green living and eco friendly products store in Yellow Springs, Ohio, a community long known for its strong connection to the Earth and to environmental awareness and activism. eco•mental opened as Living Green in November, 2007; we changed our name in 2009.
We use some basic values to decide what environmentally friendly products to offer our customers. eco•mental strives for products that are good for people and good for the planet, so we choose items that have at least one and as many of these qualities as possible:
- Made from recycled materials
- Non-toxic
- Biodegradable
- Energy efficient
- Have low impact – (manufacturing, transportation and end of life material management)
...and when possible, we choose products that are:
- Manufactured in the US
- Purchased through fair trade practices
eco•mental will never sell a product if there are any indications of unethical production practices such as exploitative labor. We explore this aspect of every vendor with which we do business.
